Are you flushing too much paper or your child is trying to flush the toys down the bowel ? Toilet clogging almost seems unavoidable. Clogged toilets are a major inconvenience especially if you do not have a plunger. With the following approaches, get creative with unclogging using materials you already have:
Hot Water & Dish Soap
Pouring hot water down the drain is the first thing that should be done for unclogged toilets. Wait for a few minutes to check if it loosens the clog. Flush the toilet one or two times to break up the clog.
If the hot water alone does not work, pour about half cup of dish soap into the toilet followed by hot water. The slippery nature of the soap will soften the clog and break it up.
Baking soda and vinegar
Baking soda and vinegar are natural alternatives to hot water and dish soap. Mix one cup of baking soda and two cups of vinegar and pour it down the drain. Allow an hour to let it fizz up followed by pouring hot water that will help loosen up the clog .You will need to flush the toilet to check if the clog has been cleared. The entire process can be repeated once again to further soften the clog.
Plastic Bottle
This method is likely to turn out a bit messy. Get your gloves on for this method and drain as much water as possible using a bucket. Fill a bottle of water to the brim and cover the top with your thumb. Squeeze the water into the drain to create pressure upon removing your thumb. This pressure dislodges any clog in the toilet.
Wire Hanger
If you do not have a drain snake, you can create your own with a wire hanger. Protect yourself by wearing gloves as you have to use the hanger. Unwind the hanger into a straight metal wire. Then, simply push the wire down the toilet until you find the clog. Nudge the debris till it dissolves and the water starts to drain. The toilet has to be flushed out a few times to clear the clog out.
If the clog still does not break down after following all these methods, it indicates the blockage is severe and it’s time to call Inspired Plumbing. We clear your blocked pipe or drains starting from $79. Call us or Get a free quote online.
